It is Japan in the late 1950s, right in the midst of the era of rapid economic growth. Mizuka Tsurumaki, left penniless after the financial support from her father ceased, collapses on a rural road in the sweltering heat of summer. She is rescued by Ouka and Rin from the "Sunflower Circus," a struggling, small-time troupe.
